FAMU leaps into FCS Stats poll, NCAT takes dip after MEAC showdown

FAMU makes its debut in the national FCS polls after knocking off NCAT again.

Less than 24 hours after securing a big win, Florida A&M can stick another feather in its proverbial cap.

FAMU lept on to the STATS FCS poll at no. 20 after a 34-31 overtime win over North Carolina A&T on Sunday. The Ratters are now 6-1 and remain perfect in the MEAC at 4-0. It will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to take on Morgan State.

A&T, who had been ranked no. 10 overall, dropped to no. 18 after the loss. It is now 4-2 on the season, 2-1 in MEAC play. The loss put A&T third in the MEAC behind Bethune-Cookman (4-0) and SC State (2-1). It will face both of those opponents in the final month of the season.

Despite the win and its perfect record, FAMU will not be able to win the MEAC title or claim a spot in the Celebration Bowl due to postseason ineligibility by the NCAA.

Three other HBCUs received votes, led by Alcorn State along with South Carolina State and BCU.
