2019 National Battle of The Bands

HBCU bands took over Houston’s NRG Stadium in September at the National Battle of The Bands.

The National Battle of The Bands organization brought its annual event to Houston, Texas. The event was previously held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Over 37,000 people flocked to NRG Stadium to watch eight bands perform. Each participating band received a $10,000 check.

Specifically, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Tennessee State, Miles College, Florida A&M, Southern University, North Carolina Central, and Talladega College were all recipients. According to NBOTB and officials at Harris County- Houston Sports authority, the event had an estimated economic impact of 6.3 million dollars.
