BIRMINGHAM– At least one Atlanta team was able to take home the big one in 2017. Clark Atlanta came up with a 64-62 win over Fort Valley State on Saturday night to claim the 2017 men’s SIAC basketball title in Bill Harris Arena.
Chuka Eneh hit the game-winning 3-point shot with just under 20 seconds remaining and Fort Valley’s game-winning attempt fell short, giving CAU its fifth SIAC title in school history and its first since 2011.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js “He made a big shot,” CAU coach Darrell Walker said after the game. “I’m glad he didn’t let me effect his concentration because that was a heck of a shot to put us on this stage right here.”
CAU’s win brings its record 21-11 and clinched the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Not bad for a team that won just nine games last year and had no players on the All-SIAC team.
“They’ve been pushed, they’ve been prodded…and I can’t say some other things that has been done to them,” Walker joked. “But they accepted it. Sometimes guys don’t want to buy in, but they bought in.”
