One of the top quarterbacks in HBCU football has thrown his last pass this season.
Tennessee State quarterback O’Shay Ackerman-Carter will miss the remainder of the season after suffering “a lower extremity injury” according to the university.
Veteran quarterback Ron Butler will take the reins at quarterback for TSU, who improved to 3-0 after defeating Bethune-Cookman 31-24 on Saturday. Butler has started 13 games in his career, throwing for 2,6456 yards, 24 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in his career to this point.
Ackerman-Carter was having an excellent year, completing 35-of-57 passes for just under 600 yards and five interceptions in the first nine quarters of the season. The Jacksonville, FL product will seek a medical hardship from the NCAA to get an additional year of eligibility.
