National media attention surrounding Grambling State soared on Friday as news hit that the game against Jackson State had been forfeited due to a player revolt. While most of the attention was focused on that specific game, many on social media began to wonder about the future of The Bayou Classic against Southern. According to the classic’s twitter account, they are preparing for the Nov. 30 game as normal.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Even if the game on as planned, assuming Grambling and its players can sort things out, it will be interesting to see how advertisers handle the recent developments. Over its history, the Bayou Classic has been the premier HBCU football classic, held in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and broadcast on NBC.
The past couple of years, the classic has seen a lot of coming and going in terms of sponsors. This year’s game will be the 40th in classic history. Grambling State currently leads the series 20-19.
