A little less than a month after firing its head coach, Grambling State is officially launching its search for a new one. The Gramblinite, GSU’s student newspaper, is reporting that the school has begun its search for a coach to replace Doug Williams.

Williams was fired last month after his team got off to an 0-2 start. The opening was posted on Grambling’s website on Sept. 19. What do the Tigers expect of their next head coach?

The successful candidate will be expected to:

*Coach and administer a highly competitive Football program which includes game, practice, budget management, scheduling and coordination of travel

*Teach the fundamentals of offensive and defensive techniques that lead to on-field success

*Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress of student athletes and actively participate in academic enhancement activities

*Mentor and take a leading role in the total development of student-athletes

*Scout and recruit quality student athletes

*Abide by all NCAA, SWAC and University rules and regulations

*Promote the program within the community and local area through public appearances and taking part in Athletic fund raising activities, including the Tiger Caravan

*Represent Grambling State University and the Football program in a professional manner

The Gramblinite says there will be a committee formed consisting of athletic director Aaron James, VP for Finance and Administration Leon Sanders, a student representative and others to be named later.
